The Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Hattab Haddaoui, says many Nigerians are not enjoying Tunisian scholarships because that they do not speak French Language.

The envoy explained that the language barrier had denied many Nigerian students the opportunity to study in Tunisia on scholarship.

According to him, scholarships are available for those that can speak French and Arabic languages in Economics, Management, among others.

In an interview with our correspondent, the ambassador, stated that many francophone students from Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Togo and others had been studying in his country on scholarships because of the language advantage.

He, however, said that Tunisia had initiated training for Nigerians in tourism, desertification, agriculture, creative arts and environmental protection as well as in other areas of mutual benefits between the countries.

Haddaoui said, “Tunisia offers scholarships to students in various fields but Nigerians have not been enjoying them due to language barrier. Many of these courses are in French and Arabic. So, students from francophone countries are the ones enjoying the scholarship benefit.”
