/j/ Consonant Sound


‘y’ – yam, year, your, yes, youth, yoghurt, you

‘e’ – euro, Europe, euphemism, euphoria, eulogy

Although /j/ is not orthographically represented in the following examples, it is still realised.

*‘u’ – university, unique, unity, union, huge, queue

*‘i’ – view

*‘ea’ – beauty,

It is also realised in ‘few’ /fju:/, new /nju:/ mew /mju:/, stew /stju:/, ewe /ju:/
