Yakubu Gowon, Bogoro, Gambari Commission New Projects in BUK

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro and  BUK’s Pro-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Gambari commissioned new projects in Bayero University, Kano on Friday, 14th June, 2019 as part of the activities of the 35th Convocation Ceremony.

The projects commissioned were: the new Department of Microbiology Complex and Twin Theatre (Old Campus); new Dean’s Office and Lecture Theatres (School of Continuing Education);  Geology Department, Web Laboratory and Food Processing Laboratory in the Faculty of Agriculture (New Campus). They also used the occasion to visit BUK’s ultra-modern solar power project and new Senate Building which will be commissioned very soon.

General Yakubu Gowon said he was extremely happy to be part of the historic occasion of the commissioning some important projects in Bayero University, saying the University had made a name in Nigeria in terms of quality of its infrastructural facilities, teaching and learning.

General Gowon, who later in the day chaired 35th Convocation Lecture expressed determination to continue to partner with Bayero University, Kano to improve the quality of education in the country.

In his part, the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro maintained that Bayero University was second to none in terms of execution of TetFund intervention projects.

“I said it before and I will repeat it now that when it comes to the execution of quality TeTFund projects, BUK is ahead of others,” Professor Bogoro emphasized.

The University’s Pro-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubakar Rasheed, Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, Council members, Principal Officers and some senior members of the University were all part of the commissioning ceremony.
