We Are Concerned Over Reopening of Schools – Federal Govt

The federal government has said the reopening of schools for students in graduating classes (primary and secondary schools) is a cause for concern because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boss Mustapha, the chairman of the presidential task force on COVID-19 on Monday, August 3, said there are risks of COVID-19 transmission in schools if appropriate protocols are not put in place and adhered to, Daily Trust reported.

Speaking at the COVID-19 briefing, he urged stakeholders in the education sector to ensure that all safety protocols put place are observed. FG has urged all schools to adhere to the appropriate COVID-19 protocols put in place.

Mustapha disclosed that the COVID-19 task force will submit its 6th interim report to President Buhari soon. He said if the report is approved by the president, Nigerians will on Thursday, August 6, be briefed about further measures to be taken over the pandemic.
