UNILAG Shut Down as a Result of Students’ Protest

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has been indefinitely shut down following protest by students over the death of their colleague, a female student of the institution.

The female was said to have been electrocuted on Tuesday by a high tension cable in front of Sodeinde Hall of residence on the campus.

An ambulance was called to take her to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), but she died on the way before the ambulance conveying her could reach the hospital.

UNILAG Important Information On Issuance Of Certificates To DLI Graduates

Certificates of 2012/2013/2014 graduates of the Distance Learning Institute, University of Lagos are ready for collection.

Therefore, 2012/2013/2014 graduates are advised to complete all formalities with the Institute before proceeding to collect their certificate from the Certification and Verification Office, UNILAG, Akoka.


UNILAG, the University of Lagos was founded in 1962. It presently has three Campuses in Yaba and Surulere. Whereas two of its Campuses are located in Yaba (the main campus in Akoka and the recently created campus at the former School of Radiography), its College of Medicine is located in Idi-Araba, Surulere. It is remarkable that all the three campuses are located in the Mainland of Lagos.
