It was learnt that staff members of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) yesterday protested the appointment of Prof. Taofeek Salami as the new vice chancellor of the institution.

According to the protesting staff, Prof. Taofeek Salami was sponsored to replace Prof. Bamitale Omole, the past immediate Vice Chancellor who they accused of mismanaging money in order to cover his deeds while in office.
The situation degenerated to a stage where the workers chased their colleagues out of their offices and even locked some of them in.
The protest is likely to affect the ongoing orientation exercise for new students.
