The pioneer exco of Nasarawa State Polytechnic (NASPOLY) Alumni Association, Lafia, under the leadership of her national president, Comrade Shuaibu Umar Abdul has appealed to Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura to improve funding to the institution.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Shuaibu Mohammed, the body said this will enable the institution to secure accreditation for more of its courses, especially in the sciences.
“The leadership of Nasarawa State Polytechnic Alumni Association is appealing to Nasarawa State Government to measure-up as usual with appropriate support to enable the institution put her engineering workshop in shape in order to gain accreditation of the engineering Programme and enable the commencement of Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in the institution,” it stated.
The alumni also commended and the Rector of the institution, Professor Silas Gyar for his administrative acumen and the promotion of academic excellence in the institution.
“The Rector who is known as an academic enigma has repositioned the institution in terms of qualitative knowledge facilitators i.e. lecturers and equally give the institution a face lift with the projects that are ongoing within the intelligentsia community”.
It added that under Gyar’s leadership, the Polytechnic has seen most of her academic courses accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
“In view of this, we the Nasarawa State Polytechnic Alumni Association are proud to have Associate Professor Silas Gyar at the helm of affairs in Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia who has been operating an all-inclusive administration that has ensured peaceful and enabling environment for academic exercise to flourish”.
As stakeholders, the alumni association promised to continue to complement effort of the management of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia to attain lofty height.
