Dotun Ajegbile Foundation Offers Scholarships to 125 Pupils in Lagos
Dotun Ajegbile Fondation was founded in 2013, a Non-Governmental Organization borne out of the long-standing objectives of the Founder to impact on the youths, elderly and less-priviledged in any and every way possible.
“It cannot be a surprise that we place premium on the quality of lives of every youth and even aged ones in the society, hence the necessity for us to ensure we impact on the society. I believe that every life has equal value—that every person, no matter where he or she lives, deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy, productive life and feel a responsibility to share that good fortune”. – Mr. Dotun Ajegbile
The Dotun Ajegbile Foundation has offered scholarship to 125 pupils in Lagos Island as part of its annual social support programme to support indigent individuals and households across the area.
At a ceremony recently where the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board forms and cash awards were distributed to the students who had some of the best results in the 2014 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, experts and leading stakeholders in the education sector also used the medium to call on government and its relevant agencies to invest more in the system.
Hon. Justice E. Adeniyi of the Lagos High Court, described education as the most effective antidote to the security problems currently bedeviling the nation.
According to him, the future of the Nigerian child must be protected through quality investment in education.
Secretary of the Foundation, Mr. Oriade Waheed, while also decrying the falling standard of education across the country, called on capable individuals and organisations to support government’s effort and ensure that every child has a chance to go to school in Nigeria.
“We are doing our best to assist the government because we know they cannot do it alone. Education is important in any society and that is why we have chosen to focus on that aspect and assist as many people as we can in their academic pursuit. We believe others who have the resource should also do same or even better.”
