DELSU Matriculation and Orientation Programme for New Students



DELSU Matriculation and Orientation Programme: Delta State University, DELSU orientation and matriculation programme schedule for the 2018/2019 academic session has been released for newly admitted candidates.

DELSU Matriculation Programme

This is to announce to all the fresh students of the Delta State University (DELSU) that the management of the university has announced the matriculation ceremony date, time, venue and procedure for collection of academic gowns for the 2018/2019 academic session.

DELSU 2018/2019 matriculation ceremony has been scheduled for Saturday, 12th January, 2019 simultaneously in all the Campuses of the University as indicated below:

  • ABRAKA CAMPUS: 10.00 am
    Venue: Convocation Arena, Site III, Main Campus.
  • ASABA CAMPUS: 10.00 am
    Venue: 1000 Capacity Lecture Theatre, Asaba Campus.
  • OLEH CAMPUS: 10.00 am
    Venue: 1000 Capacity Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Engineering, Oleh Campus.

All Principal Officers of the University, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, staff and students are hereby invited.

Consequently, all Faculty Officers are requested to liaise with the Deputy Registrar, Senate Division for collection of academic gowns for their matriculating students in their respective faculties.

Matriculating students should note that all gowns collected MUST be returned in good condition to the Senate Division not later than Monday, January 14, 2019. Failure to do so would attract a penalty of Five Hundred Naira (₦500) only for each day the gown is retained; while a penalty of Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000) only will be charged as cost of replacement for any gown not returned or damaged.

Matriculating students should also note that on no account must they rent gowns to photographers as the University Security operatives have been directed to impound such gowns found with unauthorized persons.

The above is for the information and guidance of all staff and students concerned.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR FRESH STUDENTS (2018/2019 SESSION) FROM WEDNESDAY 9TH TO FRIDAY 11TH JANUARY, 2019 IN THE 1,000 CAPACITY LECTURE THEATRE, SITE III, ABRAKA

DAY 1: WEDNESDAY, 9TH JANUARY, 2019

10.00 a.m. All fresh students are seated.

10.15 a.m. Arrival of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor F. Peretomode, the Registrar, Bursar, University Librarian, Deans of Faculty, Professors, Directors of Academic Programmes and Heads of Department.

10.30 a.m. Introduction of the Vice-Chancellor and other dignitaries by the Public Relations Officer.

10.45 a.m. Welcome address by the Dean of Students, Professor Augustus O. Atubi.

10.50 a.m. Address by the Chairman of the occasion/Vice-Chancellor, Professor Victor F. Peretomode

11.20 a.m. Vote of thanks by a representative of the Fresh Students.

11.25. a.m. Departure of the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Officers, Deans of Faculty, Professors, Directors and Heads of Department.

BUSINESS SESSION

11.30 a.m. 1st Lecture “The Essence of University Education” by the Dean of Education Professor E. Kpangban

12.00 noon 2nd Lecture “Entrepreneurship” by the Ag. Director of Entrepreneurial Studies, Dr. U.N.O. Edewor.

12.30 p.m. 3rd Lecture “Practical Demonstration of on-line registration and e-payment of fees” by Mr. Joe Ebasa.

1.00 p.m. Questions and Answers.

1.30 p.m. Closing/Departure.

DAY II: THURSDAY, 10TH JANUARY, 2019

10.00 a.m. All fresh students are seated.

10.15 a.m. 1st Lecture “Procedure for Registration of Courses” by the Registrar, Mr. Daniel A. Urhibo.

10.45 a.m. 2nd Lecture “The Bursary Department and its Role to Students” by the Bursar, Mr. J. O. Egbare.

11.15 a.m. 3rd Lecture “The University Library and you” by the University Librarian, Professor S. O. Uwaifo.

11.45 a.m. 4th Lecture “Time Management for Effective Performance/Functions of the Counseling Unit” by the Ag. Director, Students Counseling Centre, Dr. E. Oghounu.

12.15 p.m. 5th Lecture “Gender Issues” by the Director, Centre for Gender & Development Studies, Professor (Mrs.) D.O. Arubayi.

12.45 p.m. Questions and Answers Session

DAY III: FRIDAY, 11TH JANUARY, 2019
