Buhari Orders NDDC to Pay Abandoned Scholarship Students Abroad

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to pay all accrued fees and tuition of scholars under the commission scholarship scheme despite the controversies rocking the commission.

The announcement was made today August 4th, 2020, after the students staged another protest at the Nigeria High Commission building in London. The students, who got a scholarship from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), cried out online and accused the NDDC of abandoning them, forcing them to take on menial jobs to survive.

The President conveyed the directive to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and asked that the students be paid what they were promised.
