The Department of Agricultural Sciences at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi was gutted by fire on Wednesday night, July 28. The department is located at the Gubi permanent campus of the University along with Kano road.
Though the cause of the inferno has not yet been ascertained, the fire destroyed a section of the department affecting valuable documents and other items. Students and others around the area scampered for safety, while efforts were made to control the fire from spreading to other parts of the University.
The university is yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
