Applications are invited from interested candidates for admission into the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Distance Learning Center (DLC) undergraduate Programmes for the 2020/2021 academic session.

ABU Distance Learning Undergraduate Programmes:

  • B.Sc Business Administration
  • B.Sc Economics
  • B.Sc Public Administration
  • BNSc. Nursing Science

ABU Distance Learning Undergraduate Programmes Admission Requirements:

NOTE:

  • If you do not have credits in Mathematics, English or any other required course for your programme of choice, you will be required to sign an undertaking stating that before graduation you will provide results with credit in the deficient subjects to fulfill your admission requirements.
  • Note that all results will be verified during the screening exercise.

B.Sc Business Administration

Our NUC Accredited Bachelor of Science in Business Administration will provide students with a breadth of knowledge and skills needed for managing business operations. These skills include forecasting demand, planning inventory, purchasing services, conducting skillful negotiations, building strategies for the future and managing people, finances and risk.

Non-Direct Entry

  • Any 5 O’Level credits in no more than 2 sittings

Direct Entry:

  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have 2 A’Level passes at the IJMB Examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools or Basic Studies Terminal Examination.
  • Satisfy O’Level requirements and have an A.B.U. Diploma with Merit or Lower Credit in Insurance, Accounting or Banking and Finance.
  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have another BSc irrespective of the course of study and grade.
  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have a professional certification such as ICAN, NIM, CITN, CIPM, CIBN, ACA etc.
  • Masters degree holders in related courses will be admitted into 300 Level while others will be admitted into 200 Level.
  • OND Holders in related courses will be admitted into 200 Level while others will be admitted into 100 Level
  • HND Holders in related courses will be admitted into 300 Level while others will be admitted into 200 Level

Duration:

  • Minimum of four and maximum of six academic sessions for UTME candidates.
  • Minimum of three and maximum of five academic sessions for Direct Entry candidates.

B.Sc Economics

As an Economics student, you’ll explore everything from pricing strategy and cost-benefit analysis to the impact of environmental policy and international exchange rates. in addition, you’ll learn to think analytically and quantitatively about a variety of economic and financial issues. Our focused and flexible NUC Accredited programme will deliver the knowledge and skills you need to advance your career whenever and wherever it’s convenient for you.

Non-Direct Entry

  • Any 5 O’Level credits in no more than 2 sittings*

Direct Entry

  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have 2 A’Level passes including Economics at the IJMB Examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools or Basic Studies Terminal Examination.
  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have another BSc irrespective of the course of study and grade.
  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have a professional certification such as ICAN, NIM, CITN, CIPM, CIBN, ACA etc.
  • Masters degree holders in related courses will be admitted into 300 Level while others will be admitted into 200 Level.
  • All OND/ HND Candidates will be admitted into 200 Level

B.Sc Public Administration

The NUC Accredited online Bachelor of Science in Public Administration prepares students for careers that transform government, nonprofit organizations, and policy at all levels. You will be empowered to create change in the public service sector through careers in all levels of government and nonprofit organizations.

  • Any 5 O’Level credits in no more than 2 sittings*

Direct Entry

  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have 2 A’Level passes in Government/History and Economics at the IJMB Examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools or Basic Studies Terminal Examination.
  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have another BSc irrespective of the course of study and grade.
  • Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have a professional certification such as ICAN, NIM, CITN, CIPM, CIBN, ACA etc.
  • Masters degree holders in related courses will be admitted into 300 Level while others will be admitted into 200 Level.
  • OND Holders in related courses will be admitted into 200 Level while others will be admitted into 100 Level
  • HND Holders in related courses will be admitted into 300 Level while others will be admitted into 200 Level

BNSc. Nursing Science

Earn an advanced nursing degree and take the next steps towards your future in healthcare. Our NUC Accredited Nursing programme prepares you for the multi-faceted demands of the changing healthcare landscape through an innovative, online curriculum. ABU DLC is committed to meeting the increase in demand in healthcare needs by offering an online option for earning your Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc.).

Direct Entry

  • Registered Nurse Certificate (with Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria)
  • 5 O’Level credits including Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings.

Successful applicants are required to present their annual license at the point of screening, and those who haven’t renewed their license have to show evidence of payment for the renewal when coming for screening. ABU will also require applicants to pay 5,000 for verification of their license with the nursing association.

– ABU DLC admission screening and semester examinations are held in Abuja, Gombe, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Zaria with more to come. Giving you the flexibility to select your screening and examination venues.

– Students are also grouped (for examinations) into weekday and weekend groups, giving you the flexibility to choose whichever is more convenient for you.

– You are at liberty to extend your study period (twice the advertised duration) or fast track it by participating in the 3rd Semesters which allows you to graduate I as little as 18 months.

– There are 4 study options to choose from (hard copies, e-copies, Audio and videos).

– On campus students facing challenges with keeping up on campus are free to transfer their studies to the Distance Learning option.

2. Same curriculum and certificate as on campus students upon completion of studies:

– Your admission, study and graduation requirements are the same with the corresponding on campus programme.

– Upon graduation, you will be issued the same certificate as on campus students, signed by the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the University. Online or e-learning will not be written on your certificate.

3. Work and learn with no need to commute or relocate:
– Relocating to or frequently commuting to and from Zaria is not required as our courses are administered entirely online. Allowing you to maintain your job/business while earning a degree.

4. Stable Academic calendar; Secure and stable online activities via remote Server – 24/7:

– ABU DLC staff are independent of the University hence there are NO STRIKES and you are guaranteed to graduate on time.

– Our externally hosted server guarantees stable and seamless online presence, you can thus access our website, portal and other online resources 24/7.

8. Developing the Business Skill in you – “Business Skill Acquisition” :

– This course develops/improves your capacity to be successful upon graduation, it comprises of a taught component, apprenticeship and a reading component.

9. Developing the Leader in you – “Motivational Leadership” :

– This course develops/improves your leadership capacity and is available to all Postgraduate students and comprises of a taught component and a reading component.

NOTE: After you have successfully submitted and paid for your application, you will receive an offer of provisional admission via email inviting you for a screening exercise where you will be required to present hard copies of all relevant credentials (WASSCE, NECO, GCE) etc).

    How many years course is nursing bcs i dont understand the 4 yrs is it normal 4 years or just 2 yrs as i heard from a colleague...do we need any exam like entrance exam? ..since as nursing we will have practical how do we go about that... and where are the centres in lagos. Will the exam be online too or we have to travel down to sokoto
