Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) began with the faculties of Agriculture, Engineering, Law and Sciences, fifteen academic departments and 426 students. Ahmadu Bello University increased in size and scope under the successive Vice-Chancellorships of the late Professor Norman Alexander (1961-1966), the late Professor Ishaya Audu (1966-1975), Professor Iya Abubakar (1975-1978), Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe (1978-1979), Professor Ango Abdullahi (1979- 1986) the late Professor Adamu Nayaya Mohammed (1986:-1991), Professor Daniel Saror (1991-1995), the Sole Administrator, Major General Mamman Kontagora (rtd) (1995-1998) , Professor Abdullahi Mahadi (1999-2004), Professor Shehu Usman Abdullahi (2004-2009), Professor Jarlath U. Umoh (2009), Professor Aliyu (2009-2010), Professor Abdullahi Mustapha (2010 to 2015) and Professor Ibrahim Garba (2015 to date).
As a result of its rapid growth, the University has been transformed into the largest and the most extensive of all the universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria covers a land area of about 7,000 hectares and encompasses two campuses, twelve Faculties, a Postgraduate School and 82 academic departments. It also has five Institutes, six Specialized Centers, a Division of Agricultural Colleges, a School of Basic and Remedial Studies, a Demonstration Secondary School, a Primary School and a Consultancy Outfit which .provides a variety of services to the University and the wider society.

ABU 2015/2016 Application Into Basic (IJMB) and Remedial Programmes

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) wishes to inform all prospective candidates for 2015/2016 admission into the School of Basic and Remedial Studies of the institution that the sale of forms will commence from Thursday 10th September, 2015 to Friday 09th October, 2015.

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

(a) Basic (IJMB) Studies Programme
i. Candidates for this programme must possess a minimum offive (5) credits including English Language and Mathematics in not more than two sittings with any of the following subject combinations:
BS1: Biology, Chemistry, Physics;
BS2: Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics;
BS3: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics;
BS4: Chemistry, Geography, Physics;
BS5: Mathematics, Geography, Physics.
ii. Candidates admitted for the Basic Studies Programme are also expected to register for 2017 JAMB Direct Admission.
iii. The duration of the Basic Studies Programme is twelve (12) months only.

(b) Remedial Studies Programme
i. Candidates for this programme must possess at least three (3) credits in science subjects (in not more than one sitting) with any of the under listed subject combinations and any two passes at ‘O’ level in the other subjects offered in the school.
RS1: Biology, Chemistry, Geography;
RS2: Biology, Chemistry, Physics;
RS3: Biology, Geography, Physics;
RS4: Chemistry, Geography, Physics.

ii. Candidates admitted for the Remedial Studies must register and pass at credit level the SSCE or NECO in the subjects they are deficient.

iii. Candidates must also register for the 2016/2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and obtain the minimum pass mark approved by the Federal Government and
must choose Ahmadu Bello University as first choice.
iv. The duration of the Remedial Studies Programme is twelve (12) months only.

2. Method of Application

To register, candidates are required to follow the procedures below:

Go to the SBRS e-forms portal at sbrs.abu.edu.ng/eforms
Click on the TRANSANCTION-ID link to create your account and generate your unique transaction-ID. Please do not forget your log-in ID and Password.

Print out your payment slip and proceed to any of the designated banks and make payment.
Go back to the portal and log in with your ID and password to fill and submit your form.

Applicants are required to pay the sum of N4,500.00 (four thousand five hundred naira) only which covers the cost of form, screening and pre-admission test expenses. This amount is exclusive of a bank administrative charge of N200.00 (two hundred naira).

The designated banks for the exercise are:
Zenith Bank Plc.
First Bank of Nigeria, Plc.
United Bank For Africa, Plc.
Guarantee Trust Bank, Plc.
Unity Bank, Plc.
ABU MicroFinance Bank.

Please note that payment should only be made through the designated banks listed above and the pre-admission test will commence from Monday 19th October, 2015 to Friday 23rd October, 2015.

    @,are you sure registration has not commenced yet?

    1. @Manuel, Well I’m not sure whether registration has commenced because ABU is yet to officially announce anything with regards to that.

      @ my younger sister got the admission, as we waited for registration details and got no information, we decided to ask around, and someone who’s wards got same admission said they already done registration, and that school will open on Monday (4th Jan). Though my sis is already in Zaria, and will be going to school to inquire if there’s still chance for late registration.

    3. Manuel, that’s quite bad because there was no official release of the registration details. However, your sister is on the right track and I’m sure she’ll be able to do her registration if what this person says is true.
