ABSU Post UTME / Admission Screening Exercise Announcement
The management of Abia State University (ABSU) has postponed the Post-UTME Screening Exercise for the 2020/2021 Academic session. The Post-UTME screening exercise which was earlier scheduled to commence August 24th, 2020 has been postponed indefinitely.
According to the management of the university, the postponement of the screening exercise is due to the ongoing WASSCE Examination and the Directive of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Prospective Candidates, their Parents, and Guardians are to take note of this information.
A new date for the Post-UTME screening exercise will be communicated in due course.
Please be guided accordingly.

ABSU Post-UTME Registration cut-off mark, cost, screening dates, eligibility and registration details for the 2020/2021 Academic session have been announced. Cut-off mark is 160. Cost is N2,000. Deadline is August 21st, 2020. Screening has been scheduled to hold 24th August – 7th September, 2020.
All candidates who selected Abia State University as their First or Second choice,those who intend to change to ABSU as their First choice and those who did not use ABSU as their choice at all but want to be admitted into the University, who scored up to the University cut-off of 160 and above in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), are hereby invited to register for Aptitude Test exercise. All Direct Entry candidates are also invited for the Aptitude Test.

*Candidates Qualified for the Screening Exercise*
*1.* Candidates who chose Abia State University as their 1st choice, 2nd choice and those who did not choose the University at all in the UTME, but want to change on JAMB platform.
*2.* Candidates who scored 160 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
*3.* Candidates who possess the basic five O’level credit passes in accordance with the University’s Entry Requirements.
*4.* Candidates with Awaiting Results can also apply, but should so indicate.
How to Apply for ABSU Post UTME / Admission Screening
*a.* Candidates are expected to register for the Screening Exercise online by logging into *www.abiastateuniversity.edu.ng* and making e-payment of Two thousand Naira (N2,000) only, in any of the following Banks:
ABSU Microfinance Bank, Ecobank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, First Bank Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, Union Bank Plc
*b.* Candidates should ensure that their correct details are captured during the application for the Post-UTME screening test.
*c.* Candidates are not required to upload any photograph or biometric capture, as pictures and biometric of candidates have been supplied by JAMB.
*d.* Candidates who do not register for the Post UTME Screening Exercise will not be considered for Admission.
*e.* However, Foreign candidates, Inmates of Correctional Centers (Prisons), as well as, Blind and Deaf candidates are exempted from the Post UTME Screening Exercise.
*f.* The Registration for the Screening Exercise will commence on *Monday, 20th July* and end *Friday, 21st August, 2020*.

ABSU Post UTME / DE Screening Schedule
a.* The Post-UTME Screening Exercise will take place from *Monday, 24th August to Monday, 7th September, 2020 online*.
*b.* Candidates are requested to please note that the Screening Exercise is as scheduled in the Screening Exercise slip they printed out after the online registration.
*c.* Candidates are required to stick to the Examination dates and time on the test slip printed out during the online registration, as consideration will not be given to those who fail to login and take the screening test on the scheduled date and time.
*d.* Candidates should note that taking the test on their GSM phones or its use as a hotspot is not advisable, as incoming calls may cause serious obstruction.
*e.* Candidates are advised to ensure that they have internet connectivity before the scheduled time of their examinations.
*f.* Further details about the Screening Exercise can be obtained online at *www.abiastateuniversity.edu.ng*
*g.* It is important to note that the names of successful candidates for Admission shall be published on the same site (www.abaistateuniversity.edu.ng).

Abia State University is one of the state owned universities in Nigeria. These state academic institutions were created to expand admissions and bring professional skills, expertise and modern research facilities close to the city and rural dwellers, and have helped talented students to obtain higher education.
The inception of the university was in 1981 in the former Imo State under the name of Imo State University, Uturu, Okigwe. The university was established by Sam Mbakwe when he was Governor of old Imo State.
Following the creation of Abia State in 1991, the Uturu campus of the University was ceded to Abia State, and is now known as Abia State University Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Abia State, Nigeria. Abia State University offers undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees. It has two campuses, its main campus in Uturu, and the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine housed by the campus in Umuahia, Abia State capital.
