Not more than 591 students took their matriculation oath at the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State (FU Gusau) on Tuesday, 28th July, 2015.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Benchucks Okeke, said among all the newly established universities, the Federal University Gusau is the only one having a permanent site which is a record of remarkable physical development.
He said the university has three faculties, 17 departments and 27 courses of various degree courses.
Okeke assures the fresh students of excellent and high quality training for all the programmes, but, however, urged the students to work hard for their personal success, considering the huge investment by both federal and state governments.
The VC added that the academic sessions had already commenced for the 2014/2015 academic session with admission of first set of students at 100 level and those now matriculated and qualified as bonafide students of the university.
About FU Gusau
The Federal University, Gusau was established in 2013 by the Federal Government of Nigeria in an attempt to increase access to University Education to the teeming Nigerian applicants after completing their Secondary School Education in line with Federal Government’s transformation agenda. It is a conventional University and is scheduled to take-off with three Faculties viz: Faculty of Humanities and Education, Faculty of Management and Social Science and Faculty of Science.
Academic activities will commence as from September, 2014. Preparatory to take-off, the University is presently engaging the services of dynamic, hard working and ambitious persons to fill both academic and non-academic staff vacancies.
