University of Bradford, United Kingdom
The University of Bradford is a public, plate glass university located in the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. The university received its Royal Charter in 1966, making it the 40th university to be created in Britain, but its origins date back to the early 19th century. There are two campuses: the main campus located on Richmond Road and the School of Management, at Emm Lane.
The student population includes 10,525 undergraduate and 3,050 postgraduate students. Mature students make up around a third of the undergraduate community. 22% of students are foreign, and come from over 110 different countries. There were 14,406 applications to the university through UCAS in 2010, of which 3,421 were accepted.
It was the first British university to establish a Department of Peace Studies in 1973, which is currently the world’s largest university centre for the study of peace and conflict. The division has a reputation as a centre of excellence in peace research, international relations, security studies, conflict resolution and development and peace studies.
About the University of Bradford 2015 Global Development Scholarships:
Applications are presently ongoing for the University of Bradford 2015 Global Development Scholarships in UK (formerly known as Countries in Crisis Scholarships) which are intended to aid students in financial hardship due to the fact that they are domiciled in a country that is in crisis as a result of the political situation, war, natural disaster etc.
Criteria for Eligibility:
To be considered for a place on one of the Master’s courses, you will need to have achieved (or be about to achieve) the minimum level of degree qualification specified for your country (see official website). You will also need to meet the English Language requirements.
Fields of Study:
Any full-time Master’s Programme (except MBA) offered at University of Bradford
Eligible Countries/Target Groups:
Students from the following list of countries are invited to apply for these scholarships. However in extreme circumstances applications from students from other countries will be considered by the panel.
Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Lebanon,Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Pakistan*, Russia (North Caucasus), Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Syrian Arab Republic, United Republic of Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
*.Students from Pakistan will be considered under the Bestway Foundation Scholarship Scheme.
Value of Scholarship/Inclusions:
Each scholarship is worth approximately £20,000. The scholarship will cover full tuition fees and accommodation in The Green plus £3,500 per annum living costs to be paid in three instalments – October, January and April.
To apply, you must submit the web application form by 15 May 2015. You no longer need to have secured an offer to study at Bradford before you apply for this scholarship. However you must already have completed your undergraduate degree and know your results to be able to apply.
