Conditions: Awarded annually to students on study permit who are entering an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta from high school on the basis of top academic standing in grades 10, 11, and 12. Receipt of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

At the time of application, students must have applied for admission to a degree program at the University of Alberta. You will receive a CCID and password when you apply for admission and must use this to access the awards application.
How to Apply
Steps for first time log-in to webform application:
Step 1: Log in using Campus Computing ID (CCID) and password. Please note that it takes up to 48 hours for a CCID to be issued following the completion of an Admission application.
Step 2: Click on ‘Click to See Eligibility.’
Step 3: Under heading ‘Please indicate what type of student you are:’ select High School Entrance Student. This will identify which applications are open under the ‘Eligible Awards Competitions.’
Step 4: Select applications you would like to complete.
Step 5: Select application and begin applying.
Step 6: Essay: In order to evaluate your application, the selection committee would like to know more information about your academic involvement above and beyond your regular course requirements. Please answer the following questions in essay format drawing from your own experiences, and describe how the University of Alberta will guide you to achieve your academic and career goals. Please keep statements to 300 words.
Step 7: Reference: Reference submissions will be completed by your reference online through a secure site. Referees will receive an auto-generated email to the email address provided in this section. This email will ONLY be sent once the “Email this Reference” button is clicked for each reference or when the application has been submitted.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the reference receives the email notification. Please follow up with your reference. Reference letters in any other format (in-person, mailed, faxed or emailed) will NOT be accepted. Please give your reference at least 1–2 weeks time to complete the information. References must complete their portion and submit it by 11:59 p.m. MST on December 15, 2014.
Step 8: Checklist: This is the final section of the application.
Read the two statements and agree as appropriate. This is required before an application can be submitted.
All students must submit the required documents for admission and be granted admission in order to be considered for the Scholastic Distinction Competition. For information on where to send your transcripts, please refer to theUAlberta Study in Canada website. If transcripts are received by the University of Alberta after December 15, 2014, students will not be considered eligible. Please do not send copies of your transcripts to the Student Financial Support office.
Checklist Items: this section provides information regarding submission status of required information. Once you have completed the application you can verify that all the required information has been completed by selecting the “Check Application Completion” button. This will identify any sections that require information. Once this has been verified, and you would like to submit the application click on the “Submit Now” button. The Reference check box will indicate a status of completed once your reference have submitted their reference form (sent through the automated email process).
Documentation required for admission must be submitted. This includes transcripts showing all completed courses and grades to date and proof of English Language Proficiency (see Documentation). Make sure you send final or interim transcripts well before the award deadline.
If interim transcripts are not available by the deadline, please contact the Student Awards Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. If transcripts are received by the University of Alberta after the deadline, students will not be considered eligible for this award. Please do not send copies of your transcripts to the Student Awards Office.
