    soft iron is pure iron while steel is an alloy of carbon and steel.steel is much harder and stronger material than iron.steel is hardly magnetized while iron is easily magnetized iron loses its magnetism quickly while steel is usually permanent and it is used for making permanent magnet for compass needles. so the answer is D
