Learning and Getting Education in the 21st Century
The Internet through the help of Google has become the largest library of resources for learning and acquiring information that has ever existed and that will ever exist.
Are you a student of the 21st century? Then, you need to understand the power of the Internet in your academic endeavors and pursuits.
I personally have acquired a whole lot of skills and knowledge through access to the almost unlimited resources available on the World Wide Web. In some occasions, I have also been able to secure certifications for those acquired skills.
Here’s my point, a lot of us students especially in this part of the world do not really utilize this great educational asset, perhaps, reasons being that we are oblivious of the numerous merits of the Internet.
Advantages of the Internet in Learning and Getting Education
There are numerous advantages of getting education, acquiring knowledge and skills online amidst the equally existing demerits of the internet but here are a few important ones:
The Internet is very mobile
Here’s what I mean. The internet has the unique feature of being very mobile unlike the conventional immobile educational institutions erected at particular locations.
You can access the Internet wherever you are using any device such as mobile phones and computers with browsing capabilities as long as you have a network connection.
Even though, a lot of junk has been uploaded by attention-mongers (people craving for online presence and perhaps, money rather offering genuine information) on the internet, the good thing is that more factual stuff are online and can be easily accessed.
Most of the information and resources available online are free
You can always access a lot of information about a subject or topic on the go for free on the internet.
While some of the resources and information available on the Internet are usually for a fee used to support the source, much more information and resources are free to access mainly in the form of text articles, audios, electronic books (PDF documents), images, and videos.
Don’t you think this is a great opportunity to learn and acquire as much knowledge and skills as you can at your pace and convenience without having to pay any tutor or educational institution for it.?
More up-to-date information is available
Especially in this part of the world, a lot of our school libraries are stock with a lot old books. While very resourceful, these old reference materials are far behind a rapidly changing world.
On the internet, a lot of information you get are up-to-date. One major reason is because search engines like the well-renowned Google index pages and links to these information and resources with respect to time, giving you the most relevant and most recent information on any subject or topic that has been uploaded online.
Searching for information is very fast
Unlike other conventional methods of searching for information, the Internet with the help of search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc. that deliver search results in as little as a second depending on your network connection strength and internet browsing speed has become the fastest source of information.
Technology keeps advancing by the day and software engineers are still coming up with innovative ways to make access to information much easier and faster.
I really hope you will maximize this great learning tool and asset for your personal development rather than just for pleasure, leisure, entertainment or negative ventures, you know the kind I’m talking about.
